Competencies

If you are reading this, I'm guessing you have been challenged to implement competencies in your organisation.

I'll also take a bet that you've typed the word 'competencies' into Google or some other such search engine and you may have landed on several websites that tell you what a good idea competencies are; how they can help with underpinning an effective appraisal; accurately identifying development needs; and aiding succession planning.

Yeah, yeah, yeah we all agree, but as time pressured HR Managers where do we get the time to write them?

It seems to be taken as red that we have the desire to download lots of data, qualifications frameworks and job descriptions and then spend hours and hours locked away, glued to the computer bashing out competencies.

Then we have to benchmark them against each other for consistency and fairness - is a 5 on this scale equivalent to 5 on that one…?
