Have a look at our Competencies - they can be a great addition to your existing appraisal system, and make the appraiser's life a whole lot easier.
Increasingly, organisations are asking us to help them to define standards of behaviour for their people – standards which set a benchmark against which talent can be recruited, performance can be measured and learning needs can be identified. In some cases, performance against these standards can also form the basis of pay and reward systems.
Developed as a result of extensive research and consultation with a wide range of organisations, our competencies have been designed to provide an easy to understand and yet effective framework for setting those performance standards.
We like things to be simple – that's why we developed an easy-to-understand framework which works like this:
Each competency has five levels – there are three to four statements describing what performance might look like at each level
Level 1 statements describe performance where people need help – maybe some development, some experience, some direction, or maybe a nudge in the ribs.
Level 5 statements describe what excellent, above the norm performance looks like – these are your superstars.
The levels in between show a progression between Levels 1 and 5.
We've grouped our competencies in logical categories:
We have a vanilla-flavoured set of Core Competencies which are relevant to anyone, no matter what organisation you work for, what your job is, or how senior your are – they cover things that we should all be doing well – Communication, Teamwork and Customer Focus, for example.
Then we have a smorgasbord of 12 Job-Specific Competencies for loads of different job roles - from administrator to chemist, and marketing executive to site engineer, it's all here.
We've used a simple equation to work out what the investment in our competencies could save you. For example, to start researching, writing and checking the competency for a particular job role from scratch in our experience would take three days. So as a guide that's 8 hours x 3 days x £30 an hour = £720. Our individual competencies cost only £95 - and just think what else you could have been doing with those three days - closing sales, developing client relationships, the world is your oyster!
Why start from scratch when we've done the groundwork for you?
